No application for the operation of a glass furnace was found in the archives of the municipality in 1929. Perhaps he stayed for a while under the radar with his home crafts, as he only employed 1 worker in 1935 and 1938. We were able to find this in the municipal taxes on staff. As can be seen from the municipal tax, Alfred had one employee, Othmar Schmidt, born on 15.08.1900 in Moosbrunn, Austria. Glassblower by profession, lived in Deurne since 1928 and started to work for Alfred in Schelle in 1929. He not only worked here but also lived here. When Alfred later moved to Deurne in 1934 Othmar was also registered at the same address in Deurne. Whether he actually lived there I do not know. Further traces of Othmar are missing.
