On May 7,1948 Sarma Bruxelles places an order for 197,500 Christmas balls for a value of BEF 637,178.8 at the time. Converted to 2013 value, this order represented BEF 5,122,918 (EUR 126,993.81). This is only 1 order. All supermarkets in Antwerp bought such a mass every year. In addition, the Christmas balls were exported even to the U. S. A. Some of the workers were involved all year round in this work, which is understandable when you look at the quantities and the handiwork involved.
