It is hard work to get the business going again and to take care of orders. Fortunately, Alfred has extensive contacts in that world and, for example, receives an order from a former employee of his.

With his staff, he doesn't have it easy either. A glassblower employed by him does his job properly except at the end of the production chain. He always places the glass in the cooling oven in his own way, which means that some of the glass is damaged and has to be re-polished or sold as a second choice. After repeatedly having discussions, he has had enough and says he will fire him in writing, stating that the damage will be deducted from his wages.

At the same time, he diligently searches for a livelihood and was given a tip for a glassworks in Luxembourg that was to be restarted. He applied there but missed out. Apparently, his tip-off was not aware of the true state of affairs. 1963 certainly wasn't an easy year but he got through it.
