25.07.1981 Alfred works for 2.5 months as a consultant at Cristal Blumenau

At first glance, it may seem strange that Alfred is going to a German in South America. One might assume that they are escaped war criminals, as there have been many in the past. In this case, however, it is a totally false assumption. Blumenau was founded in 1850 by Hermann Bruno Otto Blumenau together with 17 other immigrants. The Ehlke family were born there and are part of the German enclave in Brazil. Some of the buildings are in German or Austrian style and the town breathes German. They even have their own annual Oktoberfest. See photos and film below.

The role Alfred played there is not clear because he wrote a lot on name tags of the hotel without putting a serial number on them. This is quite a puzzle and I need to find out more. What is clear is that there are different opinions. After further study, I hope to be able to give a definitive answer on this. I have tried to contact the family but have not received a response.
